Micro-needling is used for the reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, melasma, sunspots, stretch marks, skin laxity, hair loss (alopecia), cellulite and allows for the penetration of a variety of topically applied therapeutic and antiaging agents. This  procedure stimulates the self-repair mechanism of the skin by creating controlled micro-injuries in the skin promoting new collagen synthesis. This results in smoother, firmer, and more youthful appearing skin. Combining micro-needling with PRP (platelet rich plasma) enhances the benefits of micro-needling. PRP is obtained from the patient’s blood and contains platelets, growth factors, and other naturally occurring products. PRP is used with micro-needling in rejuvenating the skin by either applying that patient’s PRP onto the skin to be absorbed through the small channels created during the micro-needling process or by directly injecting PRP into the skin, then performing micro-needling over the PRP injected area. PRP stimulates collagen production, increase the strength and thickness of the skin, improves drooping and wrinkles, hair loss (alopecia) and greatly enhances the surface appearance of the skin.

Our skin micro-needling procedure is performed in a safe and precise manner with the use of the sterile Eclipse MicroPen™ needle head. The procedure typically takes 15 to 30 minutes depending on the size and body location of the area to be treated. There is a brief and mild downtime. Typically a patient will be pink or red in the treated area for 2 to 4 days. Results are often seen within several days and continue to improve for up to 6 months after treatment as collagen production continues. Depending on the condition to be treated, multiple treatment sessions spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart may be advised to maximize the benefits of the treatment. Micro-needling has minimal discomfort, a lubricant gel is applied to the skin and the procedure feels similar to fine sandpaper applied to the skin.
